Taste Of Teriyaki (also known by its level name, Vital Idol, or On Thursday) is the sixth song and the sixth stage PaRappa or MilkCan peforms in Um Jammer Lammy.

Story[]
Lammy's Story[]
After making a new guitar, Lammy also gets a distortion, however, Lammy is almost late and 2 minutes until the show starts. In the European and Japanese version, Lammy runs out of the shop, causes a brief car crash, dies, and goes to hell after PJ lazily throws a banana peel and slips. In the censored US version, Lammy goes back in time after getting her belt stuck on the door knob, and getting launched from it so fast that she time warps and ends up on a island, in both versions they both get dragged on stage by Jack Smash (who is a pumpkin, and Yoko's agent) who thought Lammy was Rammy. Yoko in both versions asks why she's late, but says she is going to kill her in the EU/JP versions. Lammy replies with "Eh, I think I'm dead already" in EU/JP and with "I was on my way to my own show." in the US version. Yoko offers to take Lammy back to where she came from if she does good in her concert. She reminds herself that her guitar is in her mind (though it's technically in her hands), and then she gets ready to jam. (Since it was changed in the US, it doesn't make sense why there are so many creepy visuals).
Parappa's Story[]
Parappa Rappa and PJ Berri decide to start a Rock'n Roll band, so they go to a music store owned by Prince Fleaswallow. They then start to play music but they instead play the güiro. Parappa says that it doesn't sound like Rock'n Roll, with PJ saying that he played it funny and now it's his turn.

(A cartoony BAM! effect plays, Lammy then dies, and her ghost flies to hell.)
Lammy: Phew. It was a dream. (looks around) Am I... d-dead? (stands up) Is this hell? (walks forward) If-If I'm dead, then the game's over! What a stupid game!!
(A fake credits roll starts playing)
Jack Smash: Oh! There's the guitarist! Come on! Hurry! Hurry! We need you out there!
Lammy: Huh?
(Jack Smash rips the credits roll)
Jack Smash: Not yet! Not yet!
(The scene changes to what appears to be a stage, with a crowd cheering, Teriyaki Yoko is seen on stage, she turns over to Lammy, who is dropped onto the stage)
Teriyaki Yoko: Who do you think you are, coming in this late? Don't underestimate me just cuz I'm an idol!
Jack Smash: C'mon, it's time to do it!
Teriyaki Yoko: I'm gonna kill you!
Lammy: Eh, I think I'm dead already.
Teriyaki Yoko: Then I'll put you back to life!
Lammy: Really? Can you really do that?

Chief Puddle: (slowed down) It's a bit of a rush and a bit of a dash!
(Lammy then flies to her apartment)
Lammy: My house. (She then flies out the window and onto an island) Aaaagh! (A cartoony BAM! effect plays) OUCH! (The scene shows a hole shaped like Lammy on the island, Lammy peeks out of it to see a sign reading, SPECIAL TONIGHT LIVE TERIYAKI YOKO, she is also wearing a camouflage outfit)
Jack Smash: There's the guitarist! Come on, hurry! Hurry! We need you out there! (He drags Lammy with him)
Lammy: Huh? (faded out) Wait!

Mode Differences[]
Cool: Teriyaki Yoko praises Lammy, PaRappa, or Rammy as being "way too cool," and the crowd transforms into a vortex, allowing for freestyle performance.
Cool Fail: The crowd reverts to a wave pattern, and Teriyaki Yoko says, "Enough of this! You need me already."
Bad: Skulls on the side of the stage occasionally shoot lightning into the crowd, causing Lammy, PaRappa, or Rammy to get electrocuted and distracted. A buzzing sound follows each lightning strike.
Awful: The drums of the instrumental stop playing, and the music loses its rock element. Skulls continue to shoot lightning, and the crowd briefly opens the "Red Gate of Hell," summoning the giantess form of Teriyaki Yoko. A buzzing sound follows the lightning strikes, and in Lammy's version, the sitar in the instrumental becomes ominous.
Trivia[]
- This was the most heavily changed stage in the game. The majority of the cutscenes were changed in the American release due to references of the devil, Hell, and angels being mean.
- Plus, Lammy has different clothes in the American version due to the producers of Sony Computer Entertainment of America bowdlerized the scene into being warped to a volcanic island.
- The ominous sitar from the BAD/AWFUL mode instrumental in Lammy's version sounds very similar to the intro of "Scene Six: Home" by Dream Theater.
